One of the most professional methods of transmission and power transmission in compressors is direct coupling
In this method, the electric motor and the air conditioning unit are in the same direction and the gear ratio is one to one. This means that the speed of the electric motor is transferred to the air conditioning unit without any reduction.
Advantages:
- Power dissipation is very small and can be ignored.
- No radial force is applied to the electric motor and air conditioning unit and the life of these two parts is increased.
Makes less noise than belt compressors
Disadvantages:
- Depending on the electric motors available in the market, the speed of the air conditioner unit is 3000rpm or 1500rpm and there is a limit on working pressure and aeration (compared to belt compressors).
- These compressors are longer than belt compressors.
